Miss World 2019 Toni-Ann Singh visits Mauritius

Newly elected in December during the contest held in London, Miss World 2019, Toni-Ann Singh arrived in Mauritius early Wednesday morning with Mrs. Julia Evelyn Morley, president of the international competition and other members of the organizing committee. They were met at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam airport by the Director of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, Mr. Arvind Bundhun before heading to the Dinarobin Beachcomber hotel where they will stay until Saturday 25 January.

Toni-Ann Singh's visit is part of the promotion of Mauritius as tourist destination. The Minister of Tourism, Mr. Georges Pierre Lesjongard, was to meet Miss World and the delegation of the competition at midday before hosting a press conference. During her stay in Mauritius, Toni-Ann Singh will go to La Gaulette primary government school on Thursday before going to visit the Terres de Sept couleurs in Chamarel and Le Morne.

Toni-Ann Singh was born in Morant Bay, St. Thomas in Jamaica and recently graduated from Florida State University (FSU). She immigrated to the United States 14 years ago. She wants to continue studying medicine and become a doctor. Toni-Ann Singh is the fourth Miss World of Jamaican origin. The Miss World contest is the oldest existing international beauty contest, founded in the United Kingdom in 1951 by the late Eric Morley.
